Anthony Herring

Anthony Herring is a native of Newburgh, NY and matriculated from Newburgh Free Academy obtaining his NY State Regional High School diploma. After graduation, he moved to Charlotte, NC to attend Johnson C. Smith University, where he received his first degree, B.S. in Mathematics. Also, he was induced into Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences.

Anthony always had a passion for numbers and discovering "truth" in whatever it may be, which has directed his path. After graduation, he entered into the insurance and investment business and joined The Equitable Financial Services, Inc. There he rapidly grew in knowledge, practice, and skills, then in his 2nd year was promoted to Assistant District Manager to develop a district from scratch, while still serving his customers. He obtained the designation of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship (LUTCF) and graduated from General Agency Managers Association's manager training program. Also, receiving several awards from the National Assoication of Insurance and Financial Advisors, National Sales Award and National Quality Award for sales and service production.

After much success with The Equitable, he served as Area Manager and District Manager, respectively with Combined Insurance Company of America and Modern Woodmen of America, totaling 7 years. During this period, he earned the designations of Fraternal Insurance Counselor (FIC) and Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS)through various govern bodies.

In 1995 was a special and unique year in Anthony life. He finally answered the call to preach the Gospel of Jesus and was received by St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral of Rev. Dr. L. D. Parker. But, also he stepped out on faith and started, Herring Consulting & Financial Group (HCFG) in Charlotte, NC that same year. In 1996 on Father's Day, he preached his initiate sermon. Since then, God has inspired me in several areas to be prepared and equipped to serve the Body of Christ.

While working and leading HCFG, he attended Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC and wrote his thesis focusing on Money, God, and Giving. After receiving his Masters of Divinity degree, he was called to serve as Youth Advisor, Reeder Memorial Baptist Church, Pastor Rev. Dr. Don Steger for 2 years, then later called to Director of Ministries and Evangelism, Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Pastor Rev. Dr. George Cook, Jr. for 4.5 years, both in Charlotte, NC.

While serving at GMSBC, God used Anthony in a might way! As Pastor's Assistant and Director of Ministries, he was able to birth 6 new ministries, unified all 40+ auxiliaries and ministries to a common purpose - vision, ulitizing the resources internally and externally for effectiveness and efficiencies, and establishing a culture of servant evangelism. God was glorified and the church was edified in the great things that happen. Souls were saved and people came to the church. Oh, what a glorious time! While working his business part-time, doing ministry, he attended American Intercontinental University and received a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance.

After, five years of church leadership, ministries and structure development, along experiencing effective evangelism, God called me to another assignment. To develop a ministry for the kingdom! The vision was planted and implemented, Anthony Herring Ministries was established as an inspired agent of God to serve the Body of Christ, (1) educate and empower individuals to be the best steward of God's resources and (2) to assist churches through collaboration, expertise, and coaching in organizational/ministry development, leadership, and evangelism. It is our purpose is help each person and church to become all that God would have you to be!

Today, Anthony continues to be CEO of Herring Consulting & Financial Group, President of Anthony Herring Ministries, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Phoenix, Charlotte Campus, School of Humanities and School of Business. He loves teaching and have been with the university now 4.5 years. His favor courses of instruction in the bachelor degree programs are Essentials to Personal Finance in the School of Humanities; in the School of Business, Finance for Business, Organizational Development, Finance for Decision Making, Management Theory and Practice, and Business Communications for Accountants. Also, he is a Doctoral Learner in the School of Advanced Studies, University of Phoenix, expecting to graduate in July 2017 with a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership. His working dissertation is "A Participatory Action Research (PAR): A Church Model, Fnancial Reporting System of Accountability and Transparency."

Anthony is married to Willette Cunningham Herring and they have two children. He was ordained as a minister by the Mt. Peace Baptist Association and Reeder Memorial Baptist Church, Pastor Don Stegar; and anointed by the laying of hands by Steve Sjogren, founder of Servant Evangelism. Anthony and Willette are members of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Pastor Robert O. Setzer, M.Div., Gastonia, NC.
